I took my oldest daughter to the Walker Art Center for her belated 13 year portraits .. I have heard great things about the lighting in the building and she loves art of any sort .. so it was a win-win! And the bonus for me .. spending time alone with my newest teenager .. and capturing how I see her … as an artist …

as a beautiful young woman …

and as a part of my heart that walks around outside of my body .. i love you miss E!

remember that maternity session i was going to have .. but instead ended up taking riley to the studio? well .. it ended up being a false alarm and a week later we were able to get some images done … and i’m finally able to get them blogged!

and then 2 weeks later i was able to meet this little sweetheart .. isn’t she just precious!

congratulations again mom & dad and big sisters .. i’ll be in touch when the rest of the gallery is ready!

i had a great session on saturday morning .. the weather was perfect, the location beautiful .. and the family was so much fun too! the kids were quoting movie lines .. comedies were their forte .. but unfortunately i had no clue what they were talking about. the only movie line that i can quote is ‘its just a flesh wound’ from monty python .. sad i know!

now typically i would show the family a sneak peek .. but mom was not comfortable posting online and i respect that as i will only post images online if i have consent. but i knew i had to post this little visitor from our session .. he was pretty darn quick and pretty darn cute too

those are the two things that we were highlighting in this family session .. and i love that they wanted to do so .. it brings such a unique feel to their portraits! and their girls were totally into the cars .. the youngest couldn’t wait for someone to hurry up and open the door to grandpa’s beautiful truck …

and their middle daughter was so glad to have her special elephant along to help her drive the roadster …

and the oldest (who was a big help with her sisters) did a fabulous job being my model .. after i checked with grandpa that it was ok to sit on the running board!

and here’s a pic of the proud owners of the cars .. two are grandpa’s and one is dad’s .. and all are very cool! i know my husband and son were drooling over them

i met the ‘p’ family down at lake harriet the other night .. and it turned out to be a beautiful night for the session. and even better was the family themselves .. so easy going and fun and loving towards each other!

i loved this one of mom & dad ..

and this one of brother & sister .. they seemed so close and you could tell that they enjoy each others company .. i can only hope that my kids can get to that point someday!

and just so that you know i did shoot in color (for some reason i was in a b+w mood) here’s one with ‘m’ and her fur-baby .. aren’t they both just gorgeous!

i was so glad that ‘b’ and his mom were so laid back and willing to try anything i suggested .. i had my eye on this location for a while and they were both up for giving it a try .. and i’m sure they were both quietly questioning themselves as to what attracted me to it in the first place! but i loved the color with his shirt ..

and i loved how the color of the stairs matched his eyes here ..

this was our last stop .. ‘b’ is a very busy guy and plays basketball, hockey, and baseball and brought along his letter jacket .. so i thought it’d be great to do some shots at the dugout at the baseball field. so glad that we were able to do so as this is one of my favorite shots .. and worth the risk to my bad knees hopping the fence (oops .. don’t tell anyone) ..

thanks again mom and ‘b’ for an enjoyable evening .. so glad the weather cooperated and loved your willingness to fly by the seat of your pants with me i enjoyed getting to know you and i’ll be in touch when the rest of the gallery is ready!

little miss m maple grove newborn photography

i had the pleasure of meeting miss m on tuesday for her newborn session. i had taken her sister’s newborn images about 2 years ago so it was fun to come back and see the newest member of the family ..

and she was just a doll with the cutest little face!

she did really well too .. after some mama milk she finally zonked out and slept like .. well .. a baby! you can tell she is the second child .. mom and dad are moving back to their hometown and were packing as we did the session and the noise didn’t faze this little one at all .. doesn’t she look so comfortable here.

j & k .. thanks again for having me out to capture this special time in your life. i hope you had a safe and uneventful move back to your hometown .. and that miss L was feeling better for the trip!

i had fun taking some images from my mom’s garden while visiting in ohio .. her backyard is just gorgeous and so peaceful! these are of the white hydrangea .. i think its called an oakleaf hydrangea .. but i could be wrong. found a few friends in the first couple of images ..

and i loved the water droplets left over from the rain the night before …

these 3 were totally stylin’ .. i loved their clothing choices .. each unique in its own right but all tying together! kudos to you mom .. fabulous job!
and it really didn’t hurt that they are all so darn cute too

i met up with this trio on friday afternoon .. thank goodness we rescheduled to friday from saturday .. it was really the last nice day of a gorgeous fall we’ve had!

big brother ‘M’ will be graduating in the spring and mom wanted to get some images of him and his sister and younger brother before heading off to college next year.

one of sister ‘C’ .. loved her eyes!

and one of little brother ‘A’ .. mom said she feels that he brings his brother and sister together .. so i loved this shot .. doesn’t hurt that ‘A’ is a cutie!

and you can tell he’s a bit of a character too!

i have had the pleasure of photographing this family for the past 4 years .. and this year mom wanted to try downtown with the kids. i have to admit i was excited as i love to try new locations! so off we went on friday morning .. and we could not have asked for better weather .. or cuter kids …

miss ‘M’ did not disappoint as she is always a character .. gotta love that attitude .. and those boots!

i had the pleasure of meeting these two boys on saturday .. their mom is my hairdresser (and about the only person i know that can deal with all my many cowlicks) so i have heard many a story about them .. don’t worry boys it was all good! i mean .. look how sweet they are .. they couldn’t possibly get into any trouble right?

i think we managed to capture that .. cause there was lots of giggling going on …

i haven’t shared one of my own in a while .. but we needed to get her 12 year portraits done before she gets her braces on .. so we went out last night for a quick session at our favorite spot. and as usual she rocked it .. just by being herself .. man i just love this girl!!

i met up with these cute brothers the other night. and as i was going through the images for their sneak peek i really noticed the differences between “A” and “G” .. both in looks and personalities. and it always amazes me how different each child is even though they came from the same two parents and have the same upbringing.

but no matter how different they are they seemed to be best buds …

i mean can’t you tell …
the only thing tough about it was trying to narrow down my sneak peek images seriously .. i have so many favorites .. miss “A” could not take a bad picture and was so easy to work with!

i love these shots .. appropriate as she is a lifeguard. and we got lucky .. the beach was closed so we had it pretty much to ourselves!

and this shot .. loved the color and her eyes in this one ..

and again .. this shot at my favorite location .. she’s just a natural beauty!

this little guy had just turned one and i loved seeing how he had grown from his newborn images. he still had the sweetest face ..

but let me tell you he did not want to stay in one place like he did at that session .. he was all over the place!

thank goodness i had packed up this little ball .. it was about the only thing that kept his attention .. not that he stopped when he had it though!
