when i first met miss ‘F’ she was dressed in a sweatshirt and looked like any typical teenager just hanging out at home. hard to believe this is the same gal … this was taken outside the studio for her session. loved the background and how it matched her shirt so well!

unfortunately it started to rain so we headed inside to the studio and after a clothing change we captured this .. again .. so not the same girl i first met! her eyes are just stunning in this shot!

and after another clothing change we ventured into the stairwell to capture this image .. love her smile here .. she totally lit up the space!

mom and ‘F’ (and ‘a’) .. thanks again for venturing down to the studio .. i had a great time and hope you did too. and ‘F’ you definitely made my job easy .. i’ll be in touch when the rest of the gallery is ready!

i’ve been lucky with getting some great guys in for their senior portraits .. and ‘a’ was no exception! very easy to talk with and seemed like such a happy guy .. i thought it was funny that he couldn’t hold his “serious look” for very long before cracking up .. which is OK since he has a great smile …

but i did manage to grab a few images before he started losing the serious look .. so i processed this one as a moodier b+w …

last year i took her senior pictures and this year she came back with her family before heading out to college .. she was leaving the very next day after the session. in fact she is probably all settled into her dorm room by now .. but not before one last goodbye kiss from her sister and brotherc .. love her expression!

and here is one with mom & dad .. their firstborn .. the first to fly the coop …

and one with the entire gang together .. aren’t they such a gorgeous family .. so fun and loving with each other!

and another great senior guy with some talent on the golf course .. we started at medina country club where “A” proceeded to show off his skills!

and while there mom wanted some near the barn on the course .. glad we found this little spot with the red ..

and then we headed down to wayzata to a new favorite spot to finish up the session .. loved this shot and his attitude!

i was so glad that ‘b’ and his mom were so laid back and willing to try anything i suggested .. i had my eye on this location for a while and they were both up for giving it a try .. and i’m sure they were both quietly questioning themselves as to what attracted me to it in the first place! but i loved the color with his shirt ..

and i loved how the color of the stairs matched his eyes here ..

this was our last stop .. ‘b’ is a very busy guy and plays basketball, hockey, and baseball and brought along his letter jacket .. so i thought it’d be great to do some shots at the dugout at the baseball field. so glad that we were able to do so as this is one of my favorite shots .. and worth the risk to my bad knees hopping the fence (oops .. don’t tell anyone) ..

thanks again mom and ‘b’ for an enjoyable evening .. so glad the weather cooperated and loved your willingness to fly by the seat of your pants with me i enjoyed getting to know you and i’ll be in touch when the rest of the gallery is ready!

i’m excited to announce that i’ll be offering senior mini-sessions at the studio this summer! this is a great option for those families on a budget, or whose soon-to-be-senior isn’t into the whole picture thing .. but mom is and still wants to get meaningful and beautiful images!

Mini Session Dates
6 sessions each day .. scheduled every 30 minutes on the half hour and hour. I’ll be updating availability on this post .. so you’ll know if you need to act fast

not only is miss “C” an amazing model .. but she is just the sweetest person too! i’ve had the pleasure of working with her this past year in the babies room at a local church for a mom’s group. i knew the camera would love her .. and we had so much fun at the studio! she was game for trying pretty much anything .. and i loved the variety we were able to get in a short amount of time. here’s a few from the session …

but before the year is done i have to say thanks .. to my friends & clients who trusted me to capture their families!

from the smallest .. those newborns who made their appearance in 2010 .. thank you for allowing me to enjoy and treasure the wonderful beginning of a life!

to the older ones .. those high school seniors who will be embarking on a whole new experience come next fall .. thank you for giving me a glimpse of what is to come for my own children!

to the children in between .. those who i have seen grow from a newborn to those whom i just met .. thank you for allowing me to enjoy and capture the wonderment of childhood!

to the families .. from those newly created to those with who’ve been around a while .. thank you for allowing me to experience and capture those connections!

but most of all .. thank you for letting me capture you ..

from stuck out tongues .. to surprised expressions .. to the “are we done yet” faces .. to the “oops .. i shouldn’t have done that” moments

to complete silliness!

for that is what life is all about .. just being ourselves and enjoying every moment of it .. and that is what i strive to capture!

i met up with the “H” family over the weekend and i love that mom wanted to incorporate their love of music into the session .. so they piled all their instruments into their van (sans dad’s piano!) and we captured this ..

and here’s one of “J” their oldest playing ..

their youngest son “J” is the same age as my youngest daughter .. i may need to see how mom feels about arranged marriages .. those eyes of his are gorgeous!

and “N” is just as handsome!

very cool wayzata high school senior photography

i met up with “M” the other night for his senior session and let me tell you i was glad that i brought my step stool .. although i could have used a ladder .. for he was pretty tall. now i’m not short by any means (5’8″ on a good day) but i felt it when i stood next to him!

anyway .. and this is the very cool part .. he could do that thing with the basketball where it spins on his finger .. i was amazed at how long it kept going!

after shooting a few at his house (oh .. the basketball court was at his house .. another cool thing) we headed over to Dundee Nursery to finish up his session. i have always thought it would be a cool place to shoot a senior session and finally called to see if it was possible. they were so nice and allowed us to do so! when i told my husband that i was doing the shoot there he was a bit skeptical .. but i knew it would be cool and have great little spots .. and i wasn’t disappointed.

loved this cool little building .. do you see what i mean about him being tall!

and this spot too ..

and since i’ve title this entry ‘very cool’ i have to show this shot .. isn’t this the essence of cool here .. i love the stare and the tiny bit of a smirk!

when talking with “A”s mom prior to his session we had decided on a golf course location and another location that i like to use for his senior session. but come the day of the session, “A” really just wanted to stick with one location. no problem and so off we went to my location .. and proceeded to capture some great images like this one .. which i love the eyes with the shirt .. great call mom!

and then after a bit of persuasion from his mom & me we ended up at the golf course location .. and captured this image .. again those eyes are killer!

and so you know that mr. “A” has a killer smile to go with those eyes .. here’s another we captured at yet another location i talked him into .. thanks for being a great sport “A”!

i mean can’t you tell …
the only thing tough about it was trying to narrow down my sneak peek images seriously .. i have so many favorites .. miss “A” could not take a bad picture and was so easy to work with!

i love these shots .. appropriate as she is a lifeguard. and we got lucky .. the beach was closed so we had it pretty much to ourselves!

and this shot .. loved the color and her eyes in this one ..

and again .. this shot at my favorite location .. she’s just a natural beauty!

do you see what i mean? miss M reminds me of that classic beauty of the past .. she was all spiffed up in this gorgeous dress when we met at her house. and i thought to myself .. well this will be an easy session for sure! and it was .. well except for the traffic we encountered when we reached our destination .. como zoo. but after cruising around a bit we finally grabbed a parking spot and got started. and the above image was from one of our first stops .. easy peasy!

it was a hot afternoon but we managed to stick to the shade and cooled off with a ride on the Cafesjian’s Carousel .. which was one of the reasons we came to the zoo for miss M’s senior session .. she had fond memories of it and chose it for her location .. i loved it! i have to say it was my first time riding the carousel and taking pictures .. and i’m sure i looked quite lovely up there trying to hang on to both my horse and my camera!! but i think it was worth it ..

i was glad that miss M brought a change of clothes (thanks to her sis for letting her borrow the top!) as i think it brought out another side of her .. i just loved the way she was working the camera!

thanks M (and Mom) for choosing me to capture your senior session .. it was a true pleasure meeting you and spending the time with you! and thanks for putting up with all my stops towards the end of the session .. i think you’ll be quite pleased

what an enjoyable session .. great weather .. great location .. and the nicest guy for a subject! he wanted to meet down at the guthrie and i’m so glad he suggested it. i loved the location .. lots of little areas with many different looks!
