little miss “L” came in to commemorate her 100th day (or “Baek-il” as it is known in Korea) with a session at the studio. and even though mom said she is usually a pretty animated girl .. miss “L” decided that she didn’t like my camera and was not going to give me those smiles. nope .. i got spit bubbles instead (but aren’t they adorable!) …

luckily mom was able to get some smiles out of her while she was hanging out on the couch …

and then dad was showing miss “L” the baby shoes that he once wore .. i don’t think she was impressed .. but what a precious moment to capture!

and don’t worry mom & dad .. i peeked at some other images and she did give me more than the spit bubbles .. i hope you’ll be pleased! and thanks again for bearing with me through the heat in the studio .. next time we’ll have to try it at your place!

i’ve had the privilege of watching this little guy grow up over the past year. from his sweet newborn session a year ago to his one-year session a few days ago .. somewhere along the way emerged a little boy. his brand new haircut played a big part of the little man look …

and the way that he is off exploring his world …

but he’ll always be momma’s baby …

this sweet little guy had just turned 4 weeks so he was a little “old” for getting the typical shots you can achieve with a younger newborn (i like to get newborns in before 10 days if possible!) .. but little “P” still did great for us. i’m glad i was able to capture this shot .. mom mentioned how cute it was when he did that with his lips .. and i have to agree!

mom was worried we wouldn’t get anything and i have to admit that mr. “P” was a feisty one (and adorably so!) but with a lot of patience we got this image .. doesn’t he look so content here?

but before the year is done i have to say thanks .. to my friends & clients who trusted me to capture their families!

from the smallest .. those newborns who made their appearance in 2010 .. thank you for allowing me to enjoy and treasure the wonderful beginning of a life!

to the older ones .. those high school seniors who will be embarking on a whole new experience come next fall .. thank you for giving me a glimpse of what is to come for my own children!

to the children in between .. those who i have seen grow from a newborn to those whom i just met .. thank you for allowing me to enjoy and capture the wonderment of childhood!

to the families .. from those newly created to those with who’ve been around a while .. thank you for allowing me to experience and capture those connections!

but most of all .. thank you for letting me capture you ..

from stuck out tongues .. to surprised expressions .. to the “are we done yet” faces .. to the “oops .. i shouldn’t have done that” moments

to complete silliness!

for that is what life is all about .. just being ourselves and enjoying every moment of it .. and that is what i strive to capture!

these 3 were totally stylin’ .. i loved their clothing choices .. each unique in its own right but all tying together! kudos to you mom .. fabulous job!
and it really didn’t hurt that they are all so darn cute too

this little guy had just turned one and i loved seeing how he had grown from his newborn images. he still had the sweetest face ..

but let me tell you he did not want to stay in one place like he did at that session .. he was all over the place!

thank goodness i had packed up this little ball .. it was about the only thing that kept his attention .. not that he stopped when he had it though!

i had last photographed miss L when she was just 7 days old at her newborn session .. and you could tell she was well loved by mom & dad ..

well .. i was so glad when mom & dad called to schedule another session for little L .. and i could see that nothing had changed in terms of the love ..

but miss L sure had grown and her hair had lightened up .. but was just as pretty as ever!

i love this shot .. her little toes peeking out of her dress and her look of concentration .. so curious!

a father’s day sneak peek!maple grove children’s photography

at first this was just going to be a typical sneak peek .. but then i came across this while picking out the images for this families peek …

and how could i not give a shout out to father’s day when i see this image .. the joy on dad’s face .. the big bear hug that fully engulfs little L and the sweet smile on L’s face! there is just something about seeing a father with their children .. how their heart comes out on their face no matter how tough they seem to be! so this post is not only a sneak peek .. but also a big thanks to fathers and all that they do for their families! i know i wouldn’t be who i am today if not for my father and his love and those lessons he taught me .. and also for my husband who shows me and our children every day the meaning of this quote!

big sister was so good with her brother & little sister .. and such a beauty too!

if you notice the toes up in the air .. mom says that little R doesn’t quite like the feeling of grass and will put her legs up like this. sometimes even with both legs up! we didn’t catch any like that .. but i’m glad i was able to catch this one!

miss “E” was just the sweetest newborn .. only 7 days old and very curious and awake during most of the session .. but so content too!

towards the end she started to get a bit sleepy and we managed to get a few sleepy shots .. i just love this one and how she posed herself!

i had the pleasure of meeting this little cutie and his parents on saturday. we were scheduled for the previous saturday but cancelled when snow decided to make one last entrance .. and i’m so glad that we did .. cause the weather was beautiful! and i don’t think little TNT (love those initials!!) would have had as much fun in the cold.

mom and dad it was wonderful to meet you both .. you can tell you are both crazy about your little boy and it is so fun to see. i loved this image of the 3 of you!

someone once asked how I manage a 1 year old session and is it the hardest age. well to be honest, they can be a bit more difficult in terms of posing and as having them in one place. they are usually just learning to walk and want to do lots of it .. so i tend to just allow the child to explore their surroundings.

now sometimes they may not want anything to do with me ..

and other times they show off .. “ha .. i climbed this myself”

but in the end it all works out and i get shots like this one that i just absolutely adore .. go on .. i dare you not to smile

this little newborn boy has THE BEST eyelashes i’ve seen .. and he’s just as cute as can be too .. i love this image of him just so awake & aware.

i love the fuzzy back on this one .. they change all too soon so i love capturing these details!

and look at those lashes .. i mean how can you not want to smooch that sweet little face!

i was so excited to meet this little newborn .. she’s the first child of my youngest daughters 2nd grade teacher ..
and little ‘A’ was just the sweetest little thing! i should have known .. her mom is a sweetheart too .. my daughter just loved having her as her teacher this year

i’m so happy for our neighbors and friends as they welcomed their second little boy into their hearts and home on the 14th of march!

little J was so 10 days old here .. and wide awake and not too sure about me in the beginning of the session ..

but then he started to get more comfortable .. and tired ..

and after a bit of holding and snuggling (my favorite part of the job ) he finally conked out ..

but still managed to check up on me now and then!

mom & dad wanted to get some family images with their son .. who i photographed in july as a sweet newborn and it was fun to see how he’s filled out! we took a very short drive over to the elm creek park trails and i was lovin’ the colors .. too bad it wasn’t warmer .. but we made do!

i had the pleasure of meeting these three adorable kiddos last week ..

and i loved her younger brother’s outfit (and this expression!) .. mom said he picked it out all by himself and she is her little ‘alex p. keaton’ from family ties! loved it!!

we managed to sneak this session in at the last minute .. and i’m so glad we did as its going to be COLD out this weekend .. maybe even .. dare i say it .. snowing! luckily this day turned out to be beautiful and we enjoyed a fun morning at the apple orchard (apple jack’s in delano) ..

besides apples we found a little friend ..

and then some yummy raspberries that B shared with his dad!

the goal of this session was to get some images of grandma with her 3 granddaughters .. all under age 3 .. needless to say i was a bit exhausted afterwards! but definitely worth it to capture some precious moments between generations!
